The factory on Weddemulla Estate focuses primarily on production of Orthodox Leafy Teas the finest grade amongst many being produced, is the Shotty Pekoe, comprising of large and appealing bold particles of tea. The factory is one that benefits immensely, by use of electricity generated through their own ecofriendly Hydro Power Plant established downstream. Terrain is such on Weddemulla Estate that tea gardens extend from those tended at an elevation of 4,000 feet and to those nurtured at elevations exceeding 6,000 feet, thus requiring careful selection of tea cultivars suited for each elevation.
